Things To Do In Pembrokeshire

Play the Best Golf Courses in South West Wales – All Within Easy Reach of Lamphey

Pembrokeshire isn’t just for beach days and coastal hikes - it’s also home to some seriously scenic golf courses. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just looking for a relaxed round with stunning views, you’re in a great spot at Lamphey Court Hotel.

Within an hour’s drive, you’ll find a mix of links and parkland courses, each with its own character. Here are five of the best worth checking out while you're here.

Tenby Golf Club

📍 SA70 7NP – 15 mins from Lamphey Court

Let’s start with a classic. Tenby Golf Club isn’t just one of the best in the area — it’s the oldest affiliated club in Wales, dating back to 1888. Set right on the coast, this traditional links course offers rolling fairways, pot bunkers, and a fair bit of sea breeze, which keeps things interesting. The views over Carmarthen Bay are hard to beat, and there’s a real charm to the place that makes it memorable.

Green fees start at £70 for visitors, with twilight deals from £55 available in the afternoons. It’s worth booking ahead, especially during the summer months.

Trefloyne Manor Golf Club

📍 SA70 8NF – 20 mins from Lamphey Court

If you prefer a more peaceful, countryside feel, head to Trefloyne. This parkland course is set in a quiet valley just outside Tenby and winds through mature woodland and gentle hills. It’s a bit of a hidden gem, with excellent greens and a relaxed pace of play.

The course is part of a lovely estate with a restaurant and terrace bar, perfect for a post-round drink or Sunday roast. You’ll need to check with the club for up-to-date green fees, but it’s typically good value — and the setting is worth it alone.

South Pembrokeshire Golf Club

📍 SA72 6SE – 10 mins from Lamphey Court

Just over the estuary from the hotel, South Pembs is ideal for a quick game close to home. The course overlooks the Cleddau Waterway and blends parkland-style fairways with occasional coastal views. It’s forgiving enough for newer players, but still interesting enough to challenge regulars.

It’s a friendly club with a laid-back feel, and visitor green fees are around £30 during the week. A great option for a spontaneous round before lunch.

Haverfordwest Golf Club

📍 SA62 5QH – 30 mins from Lamphey Court

A little further inland, Haverfordwest Golf Club offers a traditional parkland layout with panoramic views over the Preseli Hills. It’s well-kept, full of character, and has a great balance of long drives and tricky short holes.

It’s a popular local favourite — not too busy, but always in good shape. Visitor rates start from around £35, and it’s well worth it for the scenery and the warm welcome you’ll get at the clubhouse.

St Davids City Golf Club

📍 SA62 6BN – Just under an hour from Lamphey Court

This one’s a bit different. Set near the smallest city in Britain, St Davids City Golf Club is an 11-hole course with 18 tees, giving you a full round in a unique format. The views out to sea are absolutely gorgeous, and the course has a relaxed, community-run feel that visitors love.

It’s more casual than some of the others, but for £27 a day (or £15 after 4pm), it’s a lovely way to spend an afternoon before heading into St Davids for a bite to eat.
